Ariana Fletcher Shares How Being A Top Influencer Positioned Her To Be A Successful Businesswoman


Some people know Ariana “Ari” Fletcher as a social media influencer who has learned the business of influencer marketing in and out and has earned big doing it. But in her own words, the businesswoman will tell you, “I am growing, influential, underestimated, hard-working, and I’m a loving mother.” She also prides herself on being strong-minded and disciplined.

Since joining Instagram in 2014, Fletcher has grown her audience to 5.6 million followers, which she strategically leverages to position herself for revenue-generating opportunities. Over the years, she has formed multiple businesses. One of the ventures she is most proud of is her top-selling beauty band, REMEDY BY ARI, which she worked on two years before its launch in August.

REMEDY BY ARI Is Here To Stay

“I’ve always been a glam girl. I was playing in makeup, and it dawned on me while in the midst of my schedule and monetizing my social media account that this is exactly what I want to do. So, I made it a priority to put together a team to bring my vision to life,” says Fletcher. “You cannot do it, can’t do it alone. I will never take all credit. My team is amazing. I’m so thankful for them.”

Two years later, just three hours after launching online, customers purchased all the products leaving others waiting until the next restock. Fletcher, a self-taught makeup enthusiast who learned her way around the palette on YouTube, says she was shocked away by the amount of support.

“I’m super grateful [for the launch’s success], but I think I underestimated myself. I dream big, but this exceeded my expectations,’ says Fletcher.

As the support continues to grow for REMEDY BY ARI, so is Fletcher as an entrepreneur. “I’ve always been good at marketing. That’s how I’ve been able to grow my platform. Now, I’m learning a lot about customer service, logistics, and e-commerce.” An advantage Fletcher has is her experience making six-figure-plus deals with major brands and media companies — along with her insights from business meetings with top luminaries. “Over the years, I’ve worked with so many different brands and companies that I’ve learned from by doing business with them.”

The culmination of those experiences influences how she builds her teams.

“My business manager is super hands-on and smart. We do a lot of research and have created processes for building teams. We use different teams for different projects, so we don’t have one person doing everything or having too much control,” says Fletcher.

Fletcher Is Rooted In Family

Another significant influence is motherhood and the support of her family.

“My family has always been my main source of motivation and inspiration for everything that I do. I have a lot of people dependent on me, and it makes me happy to be able to show up and be the person that they can count on,” says Fletcher. Someone who, without a doubt, counts on Fletcher is her son. Even though she says he is accustomed to the finer things in life, she is also teaching him the value of saving at a young age.

“He is a very spoiled child, but he does have his own big piggy bank. Every time he gets money, I always tell him, ‘You gotta remember it’s super important to save your money,'” says Fletcher. “Now, if somebody gives him money, he always says, I gotta go put this in my piggy bank. He never asks to open the piggy bank or take money out of it.” Moments like that make her proud as she instills healthy money habits and the value of saving into her son so that he can benefit later in life.

Being Who You Need In Business

As Fletcher shows up for her loved ones, online and in business, she also prioritizes scheduling downtime on her calendar.

“At the end of the day, we all need a break and time to ourselves. Having time to myself between my busy schedule makes sure that I’m right mentally, spiritually, and physically so that I can continue to make moves. We must be right mentally to be able to execute the job,” says Fletcher with conviction.

Fletcher also believes in pursuing your passions. She will pursue two of hers from a business standpoint: cooking and designing.

“I love to cook! It’s so therapeutic for me. I cook twice a day when I’m home with my baby, and he loves my cooking. So, we barely eat out,” says Fletcher. Her YouTube channel has amassed over 420,000 subscribers who watch her cook and chat with friends. Now, she has a ghost kitchen and a seasonings business in the works. Fletcher is also excited about designing and releasing a swimwear line at the end of the year and her new BET+ Series, “Impact ATL,” featuring other successful influencers and entrepreneurs in Atlanta, Georgia. And she says she feels like she’s just getting started. “I have a lot of big dreams. This is literally just the beginning for me.”

When asked the advice she’d give to her younger self, she says, “Never let anyone tell you what you cannot do,” and to others, “Never give up on your ideas because you never know what’s going to flourish over time.”
